Intermittent fasting (IF) allows a range of different foods to be eaten. However, it shouldn’t be viewed as a way to replace a balanced, well-rounded diet rich in whole foods. A balanced diet will greatly contribute to weight loss and overall health.
Your meal at a restaurant should consist of healthy whole foods. Try choosing only nutrient-dense whole foods rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These include vegetables, whole grains like quinoa, rice, oats, barley, buckwheat, healthy fats like the ones in extra virgin olive oil, avocado, nuts, and seeds, various sources of protein such as legumes, fish, lean meat cuts, poultry, eggs.
Be mindful that the main reason for IF success is that it helps you eat fewer calories. If you binge or overdo junk food during your eating window, you may not lose any weight at all.
